Prof. Surinder Singh

Prof. Surinder Singh is an experienced performer and the sole composer of Meré Mun, his debut album, which features rare musical styles. He has played in many different countries and most recently at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

He spent several years studying for a BA and MA in Music (vocal, history, performing) at the Guru Nanak Dev University, Panjab. During this period he also studied vocal music, tabla and various string instruments under Pandit Khraitee Lal Ji Taheem of Delhi Gharana. He has also trained in the Pt. Ram Narayan style of Sarangi from Shri Surjeet Singh Aulakh ji.

Prof. Surinder Singh currently heads the Raj Academy of Music and has been teaching vocal and music theory at schools and colleges for over 10 years. He has developed his skills and understanding of Gurmat Sangeet and Musicology on a practical level through teaching and has given numerous lectures on radio and at universities across the UK.

Surjit Singh (Sarangi)
Surjeet' s technical mastery, along with the richness of his musical ideas and his traditional approach has won him admiration throughout the world. His large repertoire of khayal, thumris with an artistry that makes a deep impact on the adept and uninitiated listener alike. Surjit is a senior disciple of Pandit Ram Narayan.

Pandit Brij Narayan

Pandit Brij Narayan's obsession with the Sarod was awakened in him at a very young age as his uncle Pandit Chatur Lal taught him the science of rhythm. He soon became a disciple of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, through which he has become a musician of the highest calibre, with a great command of tonality and the ability to visualise the poetry and innate emotion of a raag.

He received his first award from the President of India at the age of 16. He was awarded the President¹s Gold Medal for the AIR competition in 1967. In 1969 was selected in a delegation sent by the Government of India to Afghanistan and in 1972 was invited to perform at the Munich Olympic Celebrations.

He has also been awarded the title of scholar by the Bharatiya Sangeet Sabha. More recently, the Dagar Gharana Award for excellence in music was conferred on him. He has been touring the continent, USA and Canada regularly for the last 20 years and has performed on many recordings. He is also Sarod player for All India Radio and the Doordarshan TV network; his concerts on various television channels have been applauded by music-lovers all over the world.

Ranbir Singh (Taus)

Ranbir' s unique style to play Taus once again created hopes to save and flourish this rare instrument of Sikhs. Ranbir is gifted in rendering Dhrupad to Khyal, and light music to traditional folk music of North India. He is a very fluent expressionist on all the styles of Sikh Music. Taus Ranbir keeping it alive on solo and as a accompany instrument worldwide with very professional approach.
